Considering the lockdown in most parts of India, amid the second wave, the smartphone companies of Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and Poco have announced extension of the warranty period in these regions. In these regions, the services are shut due to the strict lockdown. The move ensures that though the users hardware problem cannot be addressed during the lockdown period, they won't have to worry about warranty expiring.
Here are the announcements made by the companies:
Xiaomi and Poco Phones: They have extended the warranty for two months. This will apply on all phones which had the warranty period expiring in May or June of 2021.
Oppo Phone: Oppo has extended the warranty expiration date until June 30, 2021. The extension is applicable only to the products that have expiry during the lockdown period. It is applicable for smartphones, chargers, earphone, data cable and other equipment as well. Oppo services are set to remain shut during the lockdown period. Vivo Phones: Vivo has extended the warranty period by 30 days in the areas under lockdown. The extension will be calculated from the day the unlockdown will be resumed. It has announced a free handset pick-and-drop service for customers depending upon the situation in the state.
All these services are for the people who are unable to visit the service centres due to lockdown restrictions. However, these facilities are not applicable for the customers whose gadget's warranty has already expired.
