Asian Games 2018 Bronze Medalist Divya Kakran not happy with Delhi govt as it fails to provide any help

Making her country proud wrestler Divya Kakran has won the bronze in the freestyle 69 kg event by defeating Chen Wenling. As she came from a humble background, it was not easy for Divya to reach here where she is today. Her father used to sell Langots to support his family. Just letting you know that when everyone enjoying Divya game playing the national championship, her father was selling Langots outside the stadium. And now the proud girl has finally managed to give her family the best with her bronze medal feat at the Games. Divya is only 20-year-old and competed in Asian games 2018.

Recently, Divya spoke about not getting any help from the Delhi's government led by Arvind Kejriwal as she is a national player and during her quest for a medal at the Games, she let her feelings known after returning back home from Indonesia.

The 20-year-old Delhi wrestler revealed that her written appeal for help from the state government was ignored while preparing for the Games and she was left disappointed for the same. She said to a leading daily- ABP News, "At times I didn't even have enough glucose to quench my thirst after practice, but I had the determination to do something and big so I would drink water and get back on the mat."

"When I was preparing for the Asian Games, we had approached Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for help, I told him about my torrid financial condition they even assured me of help but to no avail. Till date I haven't received any support from the Delhi government," she added.

The Delhi wrestler after not being considered for help by the Kejriwal government started playing for the Uttar Pradesh state team and from there she managed to make her way for the Asian Games before making the country proud in Indonesia.

Divya lives with her family in Delhi's Gokulpur. The tough girl even had those days when she didn't get the proper diet and infrastructure but she never gave up. Her neighbors would tell her family members to not send their daughter into wrestling but her father supported her throughout.

Meanwhile, in Haryana, athletes who won medals at the Asian Games 2018 are being all praised and rewarded huge cash prizes, Divya's feat remains to be recognized by the Delhi government. She revealed how the likes of Anil Kapoor and PM Narendra Modi sent out congratulatory messages for her but there was nothing from CM Kejriwal.

This is very sad to know that Kejriwal did nothing for the state wrestler while the Uttar Pradesh government has announced Rs 20 lakh cash prize for the wrestler. Let's see if Kejriwal will say something after media bring the facts in everyone's eye!
