Worldwide cricket buffs request Kapil Dev to boycott East Bengal’s foundation day celebrations

East Bengal is celebrating their foundation day recently and Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev is also invited for the event. He is supposed to be conferred with their highest honor, Bharat Gaurav on the eve of the celebrations. But, cricket fans from across the world have requested Kapil Dev to boycott the club's function and they even created a hash tag "#KapilDevBoycottEB" on social media, which is gaining huge attention.

In the tweets related to this, the users were also quick in mentioning the poor handling of footballers by East Bengal. They also cited the recent incident which involves the unprofessional behaviour against the football player Joby Justin.  There were also various opinions that the sponsors  Quess Corp was severing the ties with the club, after their fall out between the board members.

One of the Twitter users, tweeted that, "Never thought legend like @therealkapildev sir will ruin his own reputation by associating with these goons ??!!". The Twitter user was also using the hashtag "#KapilDevBoycottEB".

Other users wrote that cricket legend Kapil Dev will be going too low if he accepts the invitation from a club that is a real embarrassment for the nation and sports. Fans really took it out on social media and most of them were not at all happy to see Kapil going to attend the event.

Kapil Dev was the first Indian captain who led India to their maiden ODI world cup victory in England 36 years ago. He is regarded as one of the greatest all-rounders, cricket world has ever seen. He was also a great bowler of his time and at the same time, he was also a dashing batsman who had not fear in mind while handling the best of the bowlers of his era. He is expected to land in East Bengal on Thursday morning. An East Bengal official said that despite of all the negative campaigns on Twitter, he would like to ignore them.
