After Winning Gold At Asian Games, Vinesh Phogat Gets Engaged On Her Birthday

Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat made India proud at Asian Games 2018 after winning Gold in Women's Freestyle 50 Kg Event. With this, she created history by becoming the first Indian Woman Wrestler to get Gold in Asian Games. And now, after her historic win in Jakarta, she has got engaged to former national-level wrestler Somveer Rathi of Jind.

Vinesh had a pretty exciting proposal from Somveer that most of us dream of! The duo exchanged rings in a parking lot outside the international airport after Somveer visited IGI Airport, Delhi to receive her. Somveer's mother and Vinesh's Uncle Mahavir Phogat were also present when they both exchanged the rings.

They all had welcomed Vinesh as she came out of the airport with a Gold Medal and Tricolor round her neck. The happy families the clicked pictures and distributed sweets amongst her supporters as they came to greet her. She was welcomed with flowers, Dhol, and the slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai.

The day turned out to be really special day for her for two reasons. She got engaged to the love of her life that too on her birthday as she turned 23 that day.

Vinesh and Somveer known each other since last 7 years. They both are currently employed with Indian Railways as Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE). Not only friends, but they have a family connection too. Vinesh’s uncle Mahavir Phogat and Rathi’s father are both former wrestlers and therefore, close friends since long.

Earlier, Vinesh had posted a picture with her Somveer on social media and wrote,  “The best decision I ever made! Glad you pinned me for life.”

After Vinesh's historic win at Asian Games 2018, Anil Vij, A minister from Haryana  congratulated her and announced that she will be honoured with Rs 3 crore cash as award along with a job in HCS/HPS
