The legendary Indian cricketer, Kapil Dev is the head of the three members Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) and it will be the CAC, which will be appointing the next coach for the Indian cricket team. Kapil Dev has agreed along with Shantha Rangaswamy that the opinion of Indian captain Virat Kohli regarding the coach selection should also be respected.
Ravi Shastri is the current coach of Indian cricket team and his tenure will end by the end of the series against West Indies.
Ravi Shastri and Virat Kohli share a great rapport between them and there are also speculations that Shastri might get one more chance as the head coach of team India. There are many applicants for the post as of now. There are also reports that Kohli's opinion will not be making much a difference in selecting the head coach for India.
Kapil Dev has also made it clear that the CAC will be taking inputs from Captain Virat Kohli, before appointing the next coach for India. Kohli's opinion had a major influence when Shastri was appointed the head coach for India, 2 years back. If Kohli's opinions are given priority, then we might not be surprised to see Shastri again in the shoes of the Indian head coach once again.
Ravi Shastri indeed had a good outing with the Indian cricket team so far. India had won the test and ODI series in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. India also rose to the top of the test rankings and also won the Asia cup which was held last year. In the recently concluded world cup cricket in England, India made it into the semifinal before losing to the New Zealand team.
The Indian team played exceptionally well in the tournament, except for the semifinal match against New Zealand.
