Varun Dhawan’s forthcoming flick Coolie No 1 has turned out to be the first Bollywood project to go plastic-free.
Producer of the film Deepshikha DDeshmukh made a special tweet to share the squad’s big initiative to support PM’s decision.
In her special tweet, she wrote, “Going #Plasticfree on #CoolieNo1 One sip at a time – hope we inspire many #BeatPlasticPollution #StayHydrated Thank you to the Coolie-est team for making this happen.”
Varun expressed big thanks towards the film makers to adopt this big decision.
The son of ace film maker also urged his coworkers to follow the same the same.
He tweeted, “Thank you Honey Bhagnani and Jackky Bhagnani for making the sets of #CoolieNo1 plastic free. I urge all my peers to do this.”
Reacting to Varun, Honey responded, “Yayyyy thank u for helping us achieve it and for all ur super cool suggestions”.
Their verdict comes days after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Independence Day speech, admonished people to avoid single-use plastic products.
Mr. Modi encouraged utilization of jute and cloth bags with the aim to defend the surroundings.
Producer Jackky Bhaganani disclosed, “It was actually my sister’s idea, she was the one who thought of it and came to me. Together we took it forward.”
Explaining her idea and its genesis, Jackky Bhagnani's sister Honey (Deepshikha Deshmukh), “Every day we use so much plastic, and on a film set each individual uses at least three plastic bottles. Now in the long run there are over a 1000 plastic bottles used during the period of a shoot schedule, given the number of people on sets. To avoid this I thought of using sippers made from stainless steel and aluminium that apart from being reusable are also something that we can use off sets.”
Helmed by David Dhawan, "Coolie No 1" is produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshikha Deshmukh. The flick will hit theaters on May 1, 2020.
