For their loyal customers, Uber launches a safety toolkit. Uber's product management director, Sachin Kansal is making the headlines with his new product that all customers will appreciate. It is a safety toolkit to face the troubled times. Uber took the safety criteria seriously as it is non-negotiable and hence the decision is welcomed with appreciation.
On Thursday, Uber made an announcement of this new safety toolkit for its customers. It will be consolidated and comprehensive set of in-app features especially for customers in India. In May, this year, the safety toolkit was launched in the US.
Director, Product Management, Kansal said that after discussing with riders of Uber, the features have been added. The similar app is launched in the US also but seeing the Indian needs and requirements, it has been customised. With safety toolkit, the main motive is to improve awareness.
While the same day Bengaluru-based online food delivery platform Swiggy acquired Scootsy. Scootsy is an intracity service which delivers food, toys, beauty, electronics and more to a customer’s doorstep.
However, the deal isn't yet disclosed. But, it is estimated that it has been paid nearly $10 million for the acquisition. In the press statement, Swiggy said Mumbai-based Scootsy will continue as an independent app. Scootsy’s curated restaurant network will be strengthened by Swiggy and it will provide aid to the company to expand its business to newer cities.
“Scootsy is a well-loved brand that enjoys loyalty from both its restaurant partners and the consumer. With a shared belief of providing a superior user experience, its addition will extend the convenience and reliability that Swiggy is synonymous with,” Sriharsha Majety, chief executive at Swiggy said in a statement.
The company said, “For Swiggy, the acquisition of Mumbai-based Scootsy is in line with its vision to provide a superior consumer experience and the widest restaurant choices for consumers. It will extend the breadth and selection of Swiggy’s existing network of 40,000 restaurants by adding more curated restaurants to it.”
In the coming months, the acquisition will enable Scootsy’s expansion across Mumbai and also four to five major Indian cities. “As we continue to evolve with our much-loved user experience, our users will benefit from Swiggy’s operational excellence and deep understanding of the ecosystem,” stated by Sandeep Das, chief executive at Scootsy.
