U17 Football Team From Tripura Became Champions Of The Students Olympic Asian Games

India is a sports-loving country and with passing time various sports like Badminton and Football are gaining popularity after Cricket. One of the major reason for the increased awareness on Football is Indian Football team's captain Sunil Chhetri whose exceptional play has made Indians notice the game much more than earlier.

Recently, Members of the Under-17 football team from Tripura, who became champions of the Students Olympic Asian Games by winning against Pakistan, returned to India. The under-17 India team defeated Pakistan by 3-0 goals in Thailand's Pattaya.

Executive Member of Sports and Youth Affairs of ADC Parikhshit Murasingh welcomed the boys, who became the best football team of Asia Continent.

Earlier, the team defeated Bangladesh in the quarter-final and Thailand by 7-0 goals in the semi-final. Sports and Youth Affairs department of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council will felicitate the team on August 6.

Along with the boys from Tripura, the team that represented India also had three players from Haryana and three from Delhi. They disclosed that they came from poor financial and rural background where they do not have proper training facilities and if the government comes forward to help them then in coming days many more talented players shall come out from the rural areas of the State.

Also, in a recent historic match of the Under-20, our team registered a victory over 6-time U20 World Cup champions Argentina in the COTIF Cup in Spain.
