Top movies to have the highest box office collection on the first day of release

Bollywood is the biggest film industry in terms of movies produced per year. Many movies go unnoticed but some leave a mark on the very first day of their release. Some celebrities have a definite kind of fan following and reliability that people go to watch their movies without checking reviews. Here's a list of top movies which did great on the first day; 

Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo

The Sooraj Barjatya movie featured Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor in the lead roles. The movie was just like any other Barjatya film, was a family drama and captured the family audience. The movie earned ₹ 39.32 crore on the first day of its release. 

Sultan 

Next, we have in basket another Salman Khan starrer movie 'Sultan'. The movie was directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and has Anushka Sharma in the female lead. The movie did a whopping business of ₹ 36.59 crore on the first day of release. 

Dhoom: 3 

The movie starred perfectionist Amir Khan and Katrina Kaif. The box office collection of the first day for the movie was ₹ 36.48 crore. The movie was highly praised by the audience as well as critics. 

Happy New Year

The movie was a multi-starrer and has actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Viman Irani and others. The movie had a good start and earned ₹ 36.31 crore on the first day. Later the movie got bad reviews and couldn't do well in later days. 

Singham Returns

The movie was a sequel to the movie 'Singham'. Both the movies casted actor Ajay Devgn in the lead. Actress Kareena Kapoor was the female lead and the movie was loved by everyone. The Rohit Shetty directed movie earned ₹ 31.68 crore on its first day.
