In general, we witness a lot of food being wasted during occasions, functions, wedding ceremonies and restaurants. People visiting restaurants might leave the food served to them in the plate in some cases. In such a situation, we can witness immense food wastage in restaurants and hotels. There are several humanity organizations looking forward to helping the poor by feeding food to them.
On the other hand, some of them are wasting food without any second thought. With an initiative to stop wastage of food and water, one of the popular restaurants in Coimbatore in the state of Tamil Nadu, it has come up with a brilliant idea. The offer is that the customers finishing their food completely served to them on a banana lead will get a token gift worth Rs. 5 from the restaurant owners.
The owner of RHR Pure Veg restaurant said, 'Earlier 95 percent people would leave their food, but after we launched this scheme, they have started thinking and are not wasting it.' He further added, 'It's a small gesture. It will have an impact and we are hopeful that they will not waste any food in the future as well.' After visiting this restaurant in Coimbatore then, you can witness a notice board that reads, 'Thank you for not wasting food. A clean leaf meal with no wastage will get Rs. 5 in return.'
Besides this gift, the restaurant also provides a half glass of water in the tumbler to evade any water wastage. The customers can ask for more water if they want some. The owner of the restaurant said, 'We launched this scheme 15 days ago and we are gifting Rs. 5 coin to at least 100 people every day.' With this scheme, all the customers are truly happy as they had become a part of this initiative towards saving water and food.
One of the customers from the restaurant handed over the coin to the waiter and said, 'This is an excellent move. Wasting food is against human rights. I would like to give this Rs. 5 to the boy for serving me.' He then said, 'This is PM Modi's Raj, this is new India. We all have to improve India.'
