1994 was the year when India got the two precious title by their side when Aishwarya Rai and Sushmita Sen were crowned as Miss Universe and Miss World respectively.
First, they have won the Miss World pageant and it was the year when India has brought the Miss Universe crown home. But, do you know how Aishwarya Rai lost Miss India 1994 crown to Sushmita Sen?
At the Miss India pageant held at Goa back on January 16, 1994, both the leading ladies have participated. Well, how Bush managed to get the title? The winner was selected by the intelligence level they had. And during the personality question and answer round, there was a tie between the two and in the tie-breaker, we had the Miss World of 1994.
On the tie breaker round, Aishwarya was asked, "If you have to look for qualities in a husband, would you look for the qualities in Ridge Forrester from The Bold & Beautiful or in Mason Capwell from Santa Barbara?"
Aishwarya replied, "Mason. They do have a lot in common, but from what we see, Mason has a very caring side to him and a terrific sense of humour. And that really gels with my character."
However, Sushmita was asked, "What do you know about the textile heritage of your country? How old has it been and what do you prefer to wear personally?"
Sushmita replied, "I think it all started with Mahatma Gandhi's khadi. It has gone a long way since then, but the basics of Indian textile heritage has been from there."
That was the result that made Sush defeat Aish.
