Success story of Sunil Grover; initially he used to earn only Rs 500

Sunil Grover’s character as Gutthi might have been a breakthrough in his career, but he has just started showing his magic. From television to the big screen, the actor has seamlessly forayed into different fields keeping one thing in mind - his love for comedy. His salary during the initial years was Rs 500, which has now multiplied to his huge success.

He says he got a reality check after he spent his first year in Mumbai just partying. He remembers in 12th grade he took part in a drama competition–the chief guest said that he shouldn’t participate, because it was unfair to the others. After he finished his masters in theatre, he came Mumbai to act. But for the first year, he only partied. He lived in a posh area, using his savings & some money from home. He’d only earn around Rs.500 a month. But he thought he'd be successful soon. Eventually, he realised that there were many like him, who were ‘superstars’ of their town & ‘strugglers’ here. Soon he had no income & was given a harsh reality hit.

Sunil has also began a radio show that helped boost his career and instantly shot to fame. He reveals that the show made rounds and that's how he started getting more work in radio, TV and films. "Soon ‘Gutthi’ happened & in no time, became a household name. I remember I was called on a live show & when I went on stage, the audience was roaring for me. I turned to make sure there wasn’t anyone else, whom they were clapping for–but it was all for me" said Sunil. He further talked about the fact that his dream is to just keep everyone entertained and smiling.
