Later, she climbed the ladder of success with super hit movies like Sadma, Himmatwala, Nagina, Chandani, ChaalBaaz, Judaai, and English Vinglish, among others.

On her third Remembrance Day, let’s take a look back at Sridevi’s one of the most-loved feature film titled Lamhe. The movie was helmed by ace filmmaker Yash Chopra and it was a tribute to the woman and the actor Sridevi was.

For those who don’t know, Sridevi made her entry in the movie dancing to the tunes of the hit song Megha Re Megha, sung by legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. She was the only actor amongst the star-studded cast of the movie, who was honoured with a ‘hero-like’ entry sequence in the romantic saga back in the days.

Lamhe also stars Sridevi’s brother-in-law Anil Kapoor, who is playing the lead role in the movie. He is portraying the character of Viren in the movie who is visiting Rajasthan for the first time since his family has shifted to London way before his birth.

Drenched because of the hot weather conditions and the rich cultural heritage of the majestic state, Viran bumps into Sridevi’s character named Pallavi. He falls in love with her instantly. However, Viren fails to confess his love to Pallavi.

Further in the movie, due to the sudden passing away of her father, Pallavi tied the knot with her long-time boyfriend Siddharth. Heartbroken Viren leaves for London.

Later, fate takes a cruel turn, and Pallavi and her husband Siddharth meet with an accident. This leaves their daughter Pooja in the care of Dai Jaa played by Waheeda Rehman. Struck by grief, Viren finds it difficult to wrap his head around the fact that the date of Pooja’s birth and Pallavi’s passing away coincides. He continues to avoid Pooja till she turns into an adult and a spitting image of her mother Pallavi.

The actress made the film her own with her spectacular on-screen performance. She went on to rule the hearts of the masses with her graceful dance moves in the movie.
