The India and Pakistan match in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup is something that the world is looking after with curiosity. The teams share a historic rivalry and will go against each other on June 16 at Old Trafford Ground in Manchester. The two teams went against each other at the same venue in 1999’s World Cup game.
However, the Indian fans might not have forgotten the recent clash between the two teams that took place in finals of ICC Champions Trophy 2017, which was in England. Pakistan won the match and went on to win the ICC Champions Trophy. Virat Kohli, Indian Cricket Team captain, and Sarfaraz Ahmed, who’s leading the Pakistani Team will be looking forward to extend their rivalry. Indians got the payback during the Asia Cup 2018 under the leadership of Rohit Sharma as Kohli was rested.
Recently, all the captains of the ICC World Cup participating teams attended a conference where some of the questions regarding team plans were asked. Soon, the tension shifted to India vs. Pakistan match given all the political tension that has been going on in the two countries. A journalist asked Kohli, “All matches are very important but the match against Pakistan is a high-pressure game, how do you look at it?”
Virat gave a decent reply to the question and said, “India-Pakistan is always a very very anticipated match but we keep saying this again and again. If you ask the players it’s very different from how the fans look at the game compared to how players play it. Yes, we feel the anticipation, you feel the excitement of the fans when you enter the stadium. But as soon as you step on to the field it’s professional, a bowler trying to execute his skills a batsman trying to execute his skills to the best of their potential.”
Though, it was Sarfaraz’s answer that left everybody in the room in splits. He said, “My answer is also the same (laughs).” Well, only time will tell who will prevail on top.
