This will be Sara Ali Khan's Bollywood debut which is produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. It is debut collaboration for Rohit and KJo and Rohit and Ranveer also. In the film, Ranveer will be seen in the role of a cop Sangram Bhalerao. The film is slated to release on December 28, 2018. "It is my first bona fide ‘in and as’. It is with a director who has such a great, vast and sparkling equity. And he is really not holding back this time, with the way he is mounting the film and everything that he is pumping into the film. It really is my biggest outing and I am doing my best to perform my level best in this film and keeping my fingers crossed. I am excited about it and I hope people watch the film and love it," Ranveer had earlier said while talking about the film.
“With this film, Ranveer will be able to display his range as a commercial star. 'Simmba' is his biggest out-and-out masala film and I have full faith in it," Rohit, the director of the film said.
Talking about clashing with zero, Rohit said, “I think one week is enough and there is no competition. Earlier we were planning to come on the same day, but then we went into a discussion.”
He added, "We decided not to come together because that would affect numbers. It was a mutual decision. If the film does well in the first week, it will go on."
On making a biopic someday, Rohit said: "If I ever want to make a film on a personality, I would love to make a film on Maratha Shivaji Maharaj. I can make it really well."
