Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known to establish many actors in hindi film industry. Gems of Bollywood Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh gained his support to reach at the position where they are today. Now, the filmmaker is launching his niece Sharmin Segal with his film Malaal. But, the debutante recently hurt her back and was suffering from severe pain. Inspite of injury, she shot for a stunt scene in which she had to sit pillion on bike with Meezan (Jaaved Jaaferi's son).
Says the source, "Since the team was filming on a tight schedule, Sharmin didn't want to cause inconvenience to the crew and decided to go ahead with the shoot."
The source further said, "Also, having been an assistant director on her uncle Sanjay's films like Mary Kom and Bajirao Mastani, she knows that actors have to do what it takes when the cameras roll. She managed the scene beautifully, despite the discomfort and impressed everyone on the sets with her dedication and professionalism," as she has worked as an AD on many Sanjay Leela Bhansali films.
Speaking about nepotism in the industry, Sharmin told that "Yes, there is nepotism in Bollywood but also in every (other) field. Whether you are an actor, a doctor or someone, maybe you want to follow your father's footsteps."
She further said, "It is true that if you know people from the film industry, you get access but at the same time the expectation is high, therefore, we have to put in extra hard work. So yes, we have to work sincerely, and should not be misusing our opportunity." The issue of nepotism in the industry had been raised by Kangana Ranaut at Karan Johar’s show Koffee With Karan. She also blamed him for flag bearing and being the face of Nepotism.
The debut film of her is directed by Mangesh Hadawale and is produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Bhushan Kumar, Mahaveer Jain and Krishan Kumar. It will hit the screens on June 28.
