From Sanjay Dutt to Salman Khan, these stars scored box office earnings in crores even in 1991

Bollywood stars like Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgn, Suniel Shetty and Akshay Kumar absolutely ruled the 90s. Of course, they are still as active and continue to set the box office on fire. But scoring a 10 crore mark on the box office in the year 1991 was not that easy.

Movies today are scoring the mark of 100 crores, 200 crores, even 300 crores. Even the average movies are able to pull 50 crores by the end. So what makes the 10 crore mark so fascinating? Well, the inflation rate has been 7% since then. And if you calculate, ₹100 today is equivalent to ₹700 in 1991. So the movies that scored a 10 crore mark in 1991 would score 70 crores if they had released in today's time. However, that was the time of single screen, not multiplexes. So we can't undermine the figures. We can say these superstars pulled it off with great calibre. Let's check out the films of these stars in the year 1991.

In 1991, Akshay Kumar debuted with 2 films Sugandh and Dancer whereas Salman Khan had 4 films released. Aamir Khan had 2 films, Sunny Deol 3 films and 6 films released with the actor Sanjay Dutt in the lead.

Films like Saajan, Saudagar, Phool Aur Kaante, Sadak, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin and so many more were released in the same year of 1991 and the audience had a great time. Most of the movies had a business of more than 5-6 crores on box office. Tickets were sold in black in the name of these stars back then, so their stardom was untouchable. Even today, the actors are slaying the industry.
