Chak De! India is one of the most loved movies in Indian Cinema. The movie starred Shah Rukh Khan in lead with 16 debutant actresses. The movie was about how girls from different states unite under the guidance of coach Kabir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) and manage to win the cup. The movie was critically acclaimed and was also a major box-office success that year.
Among the actresses, some bagged more movies and some made success in the corporate world. The debutant actresses included Sagarika Ghatge and Chitrashi Rawat whose character hated each other in Chak De! India. The two actresses are very close friends in real life and have decided to reunite for a film based on Football.
The story of the film revolves around a few Indian housewives who chose football as a way out of their daily lives. So, this time, Sagarika Ghatge and Chitrashi Rawat will switch from hockey to football.
"Marathi cinema is known for its hard-hitting slice-of-life films and I've been longing to do one. It will be a lot of fun to work with Sagarika Ghatge again," says Chitrashi Rawat who was last seen in Ashish Deo's Black Home in 2015.
Filmmaker Milind Ukey says he was impressed seeing her performance in Chak De India, and hence he got her on board for this film. "I always harboured thoughts of having her on-board for a sport-centric movie. Chitrashi is a package of fun, earnestness and talent," he was quoted as saying by a leading daily.
The movie is titled as 'Monsoon Football'. Women-centric movies are roaring at the box-office presently which is a good thing for the film. The football is becoming a new sensation after cricket in India and the film about women's football will surely attract the audience to the theatres. The project looks promising with such good actors in the film.
