In the twin cities of Jakarta and Palembang, Asian Games 2018 are going on and in the event's 6th day- tennis players Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan brought Gold to India playing against Kazakhstan's men's doubles pair.
Bopanna and Sharan played splendidly throughout the match with Kazakhstan's Aleksandr Bublik and Denis Yevseyev 6-3, 6-4 to scoop the top prize in the event.
India is in its full zest and enthusiasm as the players of all the games are playing exceptionally well and continuing to make our country proud. India stands at place 9 with 17 medals in its accounts on day 5th. Indian athletes are at their best and even those young age player are doing exceptionally well.
With this win, India made it to 22 medals in its account and still counting. Now India stands at 7th number in the medals tally followed by Heena Sidhu's bronze in the shooting.
This is India's second tennis medal at the Asian Games in Indonesia after Ankita Raina settled for bronze after a 4-6, 6-7 loss to Chinese top seed and world No.34 Shuai Zhang.
Overall, this is India's fifth men's doubles gold medal at the Asian Games and a 10th medal in the category.
Apart from Bopanna and Sharan, Leander Paes has won three Asian Games men's doubles gold -- once with Gaurav Natekar and twice with Mahesh Bhupathi. After that in the 2010's Asian Games, Somdev Devvarman and Sanam Singh won the men's doubles gold in Guangzhou.
Earlier in the day, in the Men's Quadruple Sculls final India bagged gold and Dushyant Chauhan bagged the bronze medal in the Men's Lightweight Single Sculls final and the team of Rohit Kumar and Bhagwan Singh took a bronze in the Men's Lightweight Double Sculls final.
Indian athletes are at their best and even those young age player are doing exceptionally well.
