Oyo Rooms announces four-day workweek and infinite paid leaves

OYO has announced a four-day work week and unlimited paid leave with no questions asked for its employees following the surge in COVID-19 cases amid a second and deadlier wave of the pandemic in the country.

"Starting today we are moving to a 4 day work week but implementing it slightly differently, making Wednesdays off to let OYOpreneurs have a mid-week breather. We also launched a no questions asked flexible infinite paid leaves," Ritesh Agarwal, the company's founder and CEO, stated in a tweet on the microblogging site on March 12.

"Take off when you want, no need to log then, just let the manager know, no reasons needed, none asked. We are not going to stress about business impact and deadlines," he added.

Ritesh shared the two initiatives with employees in an email, saying that he sincerely hopes that this will make it easier for "us to tide through the next few weeks." He stated that  OYO is moving to a 4-day week for the month of May.

Agarwal also stated that he would wind up all the work early today to spend time with his family and to talk to family and friends affected by COVID.

Swiggy, another homegrown firm, announced a similar move earlier this month.
