Get ready to spend holidays in Rohtang Pass; doors open for tourism

Visitors in large numbers began reaching Rohtang Pass after it got opened for tourism on June 01. The way had been stopped since the month of November owing to unexpected snowfall.

Crossing via the central point of snow barriers on both regions of the Manali-Leh road in the direction of Rohtang is an exclusive experience for travelers visiting the beautiful place in this time of the year when the environment is too cool and romantic.

Those tripping Kullu-Manali are pleased as currently they can also visit Rohtang in addition. It is the loving spot amongst foreign as well as domestic tourists, who reach this place every year.

A pair from the national capital, Sonu Gupta and his companion Minakshi Gupta, stated, “It is like a heaven on earth, a place where one can find solace. The weather is good here as compared to the plains, where the summer is at its peak. It is a wonderful experience to enjoy snow in June.”

Hotel owners of Kullu-Manali are also pleased after the gateway to the heaven got opened for visitors. They are confident that the tourist arrival will augment to a great extent in the upcoming days.

According to Anup Thakur, president of the Hoteliers Association Kullu-Manali, the room occupancy in lodges remained at 70 per cent.

He said, “We are expecting a brisk business as a majority of tourists prefer visiting Rohtang.”

The district administration of Lahaul-Spiti has established mobile toilets at Rohtang. In addition to this, rescue and medical squads have been positioned to give instant services to travelers in case of an urgent situation.

As per Manali SDM Ashwani Kumar, all the things are ready and proper arrangemnets had been made for travelers. Special parking places have been set up to keep away from any confusion.

Ashwani Kumar stated, “Only 1,300 vehicles are allowed up to the pass as per the directions of the NGT. No tourist is allowed to carry food from Marhi. Commercial activities are banned. Only local dresses and photography are allowed.”
