Subsequent to facing a defeat in the World Cup semi-final knockout match, the need to change the coach for the Indian team has escalated. And thus, there were many rumours and news over Indian cricket team head coach Ravi Shastri.
Ravi Shastri was selected as team India's coach in July 2017, after Anil Kumble had left the post. It was all going great until the World Cup.
After an exceptional performance in the entire tournament, India lost to New Zealand in the knockout round.
Since, there have been calls from all over the place - fans and former cricketers alike, to change the head coach. After Ravi Shastri's tenure was stretched due to the World Cup and its length, BCCI has now welcomed fresh applications for the post, however ongoing reports have shown that chiefs inside the cricket board are not prepared to make a change, and are supporting Shastri to proceed in the near future too.
Some former Indian players have also lashed out at Ravi Shastri's coaching style. Very recently, India team's fielding mentor Robin Singh, who has also applied for the head coach post, condemned Ravi Shastri and referred to India's World Cup elimination as a result of his coaching credentials. There is a developing chorale among the fans too, and they need a change in ch**ge. The sign from the BCCI, however, recommends Ravi Shastri is staying, and individuals aren't happy about it.
The reports of Ravi Shastri's reappointment have not gone progressed admirably. The official declaration is normal in the coming days, allegedly before India's first T20 against West Indies on August 3.
