When Ranveer Singh was replaced by Ranbir Kapoor for Anurag Kashyap’s dream project

Two major competitors of Bollywood Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh are known for their different roles in movies. Both keep on challenging themselves to do better and always play some unique characters in their movies. 'Bombay Velvet' was a mega-budget movie starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and Karan Johar. It was the dream project of director Anurag Kashyap and he did intense research to bring the 60's Bombay back in the movie. But it didn't do well at the box office. The movie was made with a budget of Rs 100 crore and it hardly earned RS 24 crore.

Besides this, an interesting fact about the movie is that Ranbir Kapoor was not the first choice of the director for playing Johny Balraj. The filmmakers first approached Ranveer Singh but he didn't accept the offer. The actor was busy in shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Goliyon Ki Rasleela...Ramleela'. This decision helped Ranveer as Sanjay Leela Bhansali's movie turned out to be a blockbuster. It became Ranveer's first 100 crore movie and helped him reach new heights of success. His acting career got a new turn from 'Goliyon ki Rasleela...Ramleela'.

Ranveer Singh then also bagged  Bhansali's next two films 'Bajirao Mastani' and 'Padmavat' which were major commercial hits. Ranveer Singh is now all set to rock the silver screen with his upcoming movies. His three major projects are Gully Boy by Zoya Akhtar, Simmba by Rohit Shetty and Kapil Dev's biopic '83' by Kabir Khan.

Whereas Ranbir Kapoor will be seen playing Sanjay Dutt in his biopic 'Sanju. In Shamshera, Ranbir is playing a dacoit which is a film by Karan Malhotra. His another movie is Brahmastra by Ayan Mukerji where he is paired up with Alia Bhatt. It would be interesting to see the face-off between these two talented actors.
