Rajasthan observes one day morning in honor of former CM Jagannath Pahadia

The government of Rajasthan announced on Thursday that it will observe one day mourning in honor of former Chief Minister Jagannath Pahadia who passed away due to Covid-19 on Wednesday.

All government offices will remain closed and the national flag will be flown at half-mast.

Expressing grief and mourning the death of Pahadia, CM Gehlot said, "Rajasthan will observe one day of state mourning in honor of former CM Jagannath Pahadia and the national flag will be flown at half-mast. All government offices will be shut today. His last rites will be performed with full state honor. It is cause of great sadness. He served as a Governor and union minister as well. He was among one of the veteran leaders of the country."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his sadness over Pahadia's death and noted is contribution towards the country in social as well as political spheres.


A cabinet meeting was held at 12 noon today to pay condolences to Pahadia.

Jagannath Pahadia succumbed to to COVID-19 at the age of 80. He was the CM of Rajasthan in 1980-21 and a governor of Haryana and Bihar.
