Being generous and committed towards the community or society is something that is lacking in the current generation, especially among the youngsters. These days most of us are busy with our own things and we do not dare to take our time to think about the difficulties that people are going through in our society. There are many people around us who are very much in need of basic things and it will be always a great thing to lend a helping hand for them.
We have a lot of things at home that we do not use for years and are placed in any of the corner of our house in a dust collected mode. Things likes new diaries, pens and other stationery items are being unused in our houses. We might not be able to know the worth of such things as there are a lot of kids, who cannot even afford to have such things. It is here that we should think wisely and try to contribute towards the welfare of such poor kids in our society.
Sandeep Kumar. a man from Punjab, is having a great heart for helping the needy students. He has no problem in going door-to-door and collecting used books and stationery. After collecting them, he re-purpose it for the poor kids. He has also found an NGO named Open Eyes Foundation in Chandigarh. Kumar also runs a programme named 'Raddi Se Siksha,' which aims at providing books and pens to the underprivileged kids.
He said that while taking classes, the student looked very happy, but when asked whether they were taking notes, there was a huge disappointment on their faces as most of them did not have a pen or pencil. Initially, he had to take money from his own pocket to fund the scheme and now he has around 200 volunteers who are there to collect books and pens for the poor kids.
