With the population over 132.42 crores, only 19% have the access of Internet

Most of us think that almost everyone uses the internet in this age where technology is spreading in each and every workspace. From 2G to 4G, we have seen the change in how people use internet connectivity. From cities to villages, most of them got the access to use it. But when we believe our theories, it came to us as a surprise plus shock that the consumption of internet in India is surprisingly low when India is among the most populous country in the world.

A study shows that a small percentage of 19% the population between the age group of 15-65 use the Internet in India. A report was released  this Tuesday which revealed that about 35 percent of those in the age group are aware of the Internet. The report is named "AfterAccess: ICT access and use in India and the Global South" and was published by LIRNEasia, a policy and regulation think tank in collaboration with the Cellular Operators Association of India.

The report suggested that "The lack of Internet awareness is a considerable problem in India, with just 35 percent of the 15-65 (years) population aware of what the Internet is. The level of use is thus even lower at 19 percent. When Chief Executive Officer of LIRNEasia Helani Galpaya came to know about the report he said: "India has only connected around 20 percent of the adult people who you would expect to be online. So that's pathetic... and the contradiction is, this (India) is one of the most affordable markets in the world."

The report further detailed that out of the total Internet users in the age group of 15-65 years, around 27% mostly spend time using social media like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat etc.

After the results of these surveys, it is quite difficult to digest these calculations. India has a population of people around 132.42 crores, many are still not getting the services that have been providing the internet service at a low cost with the high speed of 4g. In this Era where 5g is about to come, left are those who don't even know about the internet or even if they have the knowledge, access hasn't reached their ways.
