The world is celebrating Yoda Day today. PM Modi himself was part of the national program held this year in the beautiful campus of Forest Research Insitute, Dehradun where he performed yoga with thousands of people.
On Twitter, PM Modi said, "I urge people around to world to embrace Yoga. I also request people to share the joys of Yoga with others by teaching Yoga particularly to today’s youth. This way we can create a healthier planet."
People from different parts of the world are celebrating Yoga Day and are posting pictures and videos to encourage others as well.
But what caught our attention the most was the Indo-Tibetian Police Personnel performing Surya Namaskar in the cold desert of Ladakh at an altitude of 18,000 feet. The video posted by ANI is definitely inspiring for us. Watch here:
Another inspiring story comes from Ahmedabad where 800 differently-abled persons from across the country attempt Guinness World Record for 'Largest Silent Yoga Class' on Internation Yoga Day.
On the occasion of Yoga Day, PM Modi said, "In a world where non-communicable diseases, stress and lifestyle related ailments are rising, Yoga can play a central role in mitigating these diseases to create a healthy mind and body."
The idea of celebrating Yoga Day was first proposed by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his speech at UNGA in 2014. He said, Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in well being. Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day.
