Today morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached to the home of former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to pay homage to her after her sudden loss. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen getting emotional at her resident. In the video released by a news portal, it can be seen that PM Modi is comforting Sushma Swaraj's husband Swaraj Kaushal. During this, PM Modi was teary eyed.
The nation lost former foreign minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday night. She was 67 years old. AIIMS sources said that Swaraj was brought to the clinic at 10.15 pm and was taken directly to the emergency ward. The senior BJP leader had kidney transplant in 2016 and did not contest the Lok Sabha elections due to health reasons this year.
The body of former Union Minister will be kept at the BJP headquarters for three hours on Wednesday where party workers and leaders will pay homage to her. BJP executive president JP Nadda said that the last rites would be performed at the crematorium on Lodhi Road. She will be cremated with state honors.
On Swaraj's untimely loss, PM Modi shared a series of tweets, "A glorious chapter in Indian politics comes to an end. India grieves the loss of a remarkable leader who devoted her life to public service and bettering lives of the poor. Sushma Swaraj Ji was one of her kind, who was a source of inspiration for crores of people."
"Sushma Ji’s loss is a personal loss. She will be remembered fondly for everything that she’s done for India. My thoughts are with her family, supporters and admirers in this very unfortunate hour. Om Shanti," added PM.
Top ministers such as Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Smriti Irani, Harsh Vardhan, Prakash Javadekar, Ramesh Pokhriyal were among the political leaders who visited the clinic last night.
Hours before she left the world, Ms Swaraj had tweeted about the removal of Article 370 and congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "She was happy about Article 370's abrogation, I read her tweet when I got back home," Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
