In a great move, now Guwahati railway station will completely run on solar power. As the movement for better India has been initiated as Indian Railways seems to go green and force efficient.
Now, solar energy is being utilized over the state transporter's channels to power stations and even trains. And, Guwahati's station becomes one of its kind to run on solar energy.
The proposal for this has commissioned in April 2017 and now it is expected that this move will reduce the carbon and save electricity cost savings.
Well, over the roof of the railway station 700 KWP grid interactive solar power plant has been set up which will help to reduce the carbon footprint.
According to the Indian Railway, the whole cost of the project estimated at Rs 6.7 crore ad CONCOR will provide the entire fund for the project and it will be installed by Sahibabad’s Central Electronics Ltd.
As per the Pranav Jyoti Sharma, CPRO of North-East Frontier Railway said, "The Guwahati railway station runs 100% on solar power. This is a first of its kind initiative for the North-East and has proved to be immensely beneficial."
The best part is that by the set up of solar power plant electricity worth Rs 67 Lakh will save. However, the average electricity generation of a day is 2048 KWh.
