As per Nitin Gadkari, once he had to pay a hefty fine when he was speeding on Bandra-Worli sea link in Mumbai.
The union road and transport minister made this revelation amid concerns over the hefty fines for violating traffic rules.
While talking to the media persons about the major decisions taken by the Union government in its first 100 working days after coming to power, Mr. Gadkari further said that the revocation of Article 370 and division of Jammu and Kashmir was the important step taken by the Modi government.
The decision made on triple talaq and the motor vehicle rules were some of the important steps taken by the government, and it is really a great achievement, said Gadkari.
President Ram Nath Kovind approved the Motor Vehicle Amendment Act as he aims at bringing discipline on the road and much strict action must be taken against the traffic rule violators.
“Passing the MV Act amendment is a big achievement for our government. The high fines will lead to transparency, and will not lead to corruption,” Union minister Gadkari said.
For the high amount of mishaps taking place on the roads of India, road engineering along with auto engineering is the key reason.
Gadkari further said that government has made some important decisions, where the first achievement was on passing the triple talaq bill and bring justice to the Muslim women.
He pointed towards Congress party and said that in 1986, Shah Bano case the opposition over turned the Apex courts judgment as well.
He said the most important decision and the step taken by Modi government during its 100 days in office after being elected for the second term was the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the decision has brought this under control for the disturbed state.
“My department is executing works of Rs 60,000 crore in Jammu and Kashmir, most of them on building tunnels and roads,” Nitin Gadkari said.
