India had a good T20I match against the West Indies in the US, where they defeated them by 4 wickets. They achieved this feat with 16 deliveries to space. It was a slow paced game and in the total 37 overs by both the teams, only 193 runs were scored.
Both the teams also lost a total of 16 wickets.
After winning the toss, India invited West Indies to bat first. West Indies did not get the kind of momentum that they expected and only two of their batsmen were able to reach the two figure mark. Kieron Pollard scored 49 runs, whereas Nicholas Pooran scored 20. Indian bowlers were able to pick atleast one wicket. The most impressive among them was the fast bowler Navdeep Saini who picked 3 runs for just 17 runs from his four overs. It was also the debut match for the Indian speedster.
India somehow managed to reach the target as the pitch did not allow the batsmen to score freely. Indian opener Rohit Sharma was the top scorer with 24 runs, whereas Indian captain Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey scored 19 runs each. Most of the batsmen tried to stay at the crease, but the ball was not coming onto the bat as they would have expected.
But the most disappointed fact was the way Rishabg Pant lost his wicket. He came to bat at No.4 and could not trouble the scores as he was out for a golden duck. His shot selection was severely criticized by fans and cricket experts from across the world. Pant was trying to slog sweep Sunil Narine, but was held at the deep square leg. The shot was indeed needless and this is not the first time that Rishabh Pant is being criticized for his shot selections.
