MSK Prasad, the chairman of selectors for Indian cricket team is someone who always casts his opinion in front of anyone. He is not seen defending the Indian selectors after they have been accused of lacking vision.
Mr. Prasad said that the main goal will be to make top class test players from the T20 specialists such as Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya. Both the players were initially considered as the specialists for only the shorter format of the game. But they have proved everyone wrong and both the players have already carved a niche for themselves in the ODIs and Test matches as well.
Defending the selection committee, Prasad said that if the committee lacked vision, how come Jasprit Bumrah, a genuine white ball bowler has been successful in the Test arena. He also pointed out how a T20 specialist like Hardik Pandya has excelled in all formats of the game. He also stated that the West Indies tour is a part of the continuous process of building the team for the future.
MSK Prasad said that the rebuilding and consolidation of the team in an ongoing process and also pointed out that the Indian team had a stellar performance in the test series against Australia in their home grounds. He mentioned that the Indian team is very much optimistic about the upcoming World Test Championship. The World Test Championship is being held for the first time in the history of cricket and will decide the top team in Test cricket.
As per MSK Prasad, the Indian team has inducted few youngsters in the shorter formats of the game based on their performance at the India A level. The selectors are very much keen on seeing them consolidating their regular spots in the India team. He also pointed out that these players will be getting more opportunities to prove their mettle.
