MS Dhoni Named India’s Most Admired Sportsperson Beating Sachin Tendulkar And Virat Kohli

Ex-Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the most valuable and skilled cricketers in the world. He was called 'Captain Cool' when he was a captain. He is also called as the best finisher in cricketer. The wicket-keeper batsman has always brought hope for the team in tough matches.

MS Dhoni is the most admired sports personality in India. According to a recent survey by, Dhoni finished ahead of current India skipper Virat Kohli and legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar.

Dhoni was also the second most admired person in India only behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The results were announced after the website conducted various polls and surveys with a database of more than 4 million people. While Dhoni emerged at the top with an admiration score of 7.7 per cent, Tendulkar was next best at sixth with 6.8 per cent, while Virat Kohli could only secure a score of 4.8 per cent.

Superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are among the other sportspersons who enjoy widespread popularity in India. While Ronaldo bagged 2.60 percent votes Messi secured 2.00 percent votes. With 1.60 percent votes, David Beckham is also in the elusive list.

MS Dhoni has paid Rs 12.17 crore in taxes to become the highest personal income taxpayer of Bihar and Jharkhand region in 2017-18. Earlier, Dhoni was the highest taxpayer from the region up to 2013-14 FY.

Besides owning a football franchise in the Indian Super League, Dhoni is also a joint owner of Ranchi Rays franchise in the Hockey India League. Dhoni has recently launched a proposal to the Jharkhand Government for permission to open a five-star hotel in Jharkhand.

Dhoni still remains the only captain in history to win all three ICC tournaments – the World T20 (2007), World Cup (2011) and the Champions Trophy (2013). Dhoni is also the only Captain to win three IPL trophies which he won for Chennai Super Kings.
