MS Dhoni Discloses The Reason Behind Not Picking Up Phone Calls

Last month cricket fanatics were speculating about Mahendra Singh Dhoni's retirement from international cricket. These kinds of speculations started after the ace cricketer was seen asking for the match ball from umpires following the third and final ODI against England at Leeds.

A short clip of Dhoni asking for the ball went viral but India coach Ravi Shastri quickly dismissed all such things and confirmed saying "MS wanted to show the ball to Bharat Arun. He wanted to show him the wear and tear the ball had endured, to get a general idea of what the conditions were like. MS is not going anywhere."

And that is indeed what Dhoni was planning to do. Dhoni has finally opened up about the incident and said, "We have to keep working. So I took the match ball to see how to get reverse swing in future. So I asked for the match ball from umpire in that last ODI."

Dhoni wanted to clear all the speculations surrounding him and he also spoke about that he avoids picking up phone calls.

Many cricketers have said something similar about Dhoni that is is not easy to get in touch with Dhoni on his mobile phone.

Dhoni stated, "Me and technology, there is a big divide. I don't use phones so much and there are lot of stories I don't pick up phones."

He further added, "But I do use technology as well. When I am shown some videos, you wonder if I am playing it right. Technology has to be used in right way."

This was one of the main reasons why Dhoni was missing from VVS Laxman's retirement bash in 2012 which led to speculations that they don't share a great bond.

Earlier in his statement, Dhoni had said, "You think it's a controversy but people who know me always complained that I'm someone who is quite difficult to get hold of. That was one of the reasons why Laxmanbhai could not get hold of me."

He further added, "That's not something new. I have tried to improve but it seems I have not really improved."
