Facebook on Tuesday told all its employees that they are giving six months' salary in advance and $1,000 bonus amid ongoing lockdown. The declaration was made by CEO Mark Zuckerberg during the internal meeting among the board members while taking needful steps and implementing work from home.
Facebook company has more than 40,000 full-time employees, and along with them Facebook also has a couple of thousand other staff working at different locations of the world. In the announcement, he also told all the employees to work from home comfortably and avoid going outside of the house if not necessary.
Facebook isn't the main tech organization that is giving monetary rewards to its employees. Workday declared on Monday it would pay money rewards worth two weeks of pay to its representatives.
Facebook on Tuesday likewise declared a $100 million program to help private ventures affected by COVID-19. The program will give up to 30,000 qualified private ventures with "money awards and advertisement credits to help during this difficult time."
The lockdown has just massively affected the organization. Shares of the organization are down over 28% year-to-date as vulnerabilities around coronavirus haul down the business sectors.
