Kuldeep Yadav Recollects An Incident When MS Dhoni Lost His Temper On Him

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the very few players who can remain calm on the cricket field. This has really benefitted the others players. Senior players such as Virat Kohli and also youngsters of Team India have dealt pressure without much hassle.

However, there were times when the Captain Cool has lost his temper. One incident with Manish Pandey during the 2017-18 T20I tour of South Africa was a reminder and Kuldeep Yadav recalled another.

The Uttar Pradesh spinner has been one of the main players of Team India’s limited overs set-up. Kuldeep had recently appeared on Vikram Sathaye’s show named What the Duck 3 with Yuzvendra Chahal. He recalled the time when he irked the Captain Cool.

The Indian Cricket team was playing in Sri Lanka in a T20I match which was held at Indore in the year December 2017. The batting first the hosts posted a mammoth score of 260 on board, thanks to Rohit Sharma’s fiery ton.

But the team didn’t have Virat Kohli and failed to do during their defence as the opposition came out all guns blazing. The young chinaman, in particular, was being heavily targeted and even mistimed shots started finding the boundaries.

It was our very own Captain Cool who came to save Kuldeep and requested him to make some field changes. However, the 23-year-old cricketer refused to accept Dhoni’s advice.

Dhoni lost his cool and said, “Kya main pagal hu yaha pe, main 300 ODI khela hu” which translates to “Do you think I’m mad? I’ve played 300 ODIs,” Kuldeep recalled the whole incident.

The change in field finally bore fruit as Kuldeep ended with figures of 54-3 in his quota after being smacked for 45 runs in his first three. In the end, Rohit Sharma and co comfortably emerged as winners by 88 runs.

We are sure Dhoni too must have still remembered this incident and how he dealt with it. Well, it’s a game, after all, such things keep happening, one just needs to deal it with a complete calm instead of picking up a fight. Dhoni has always been a number player of the Indian Cricket Team and will always be.
