Collector Alappuzha, S Suhas of Kerala on Wednesday made a surprise visit to Sree Devi Vilasam (SDV) UP government school during the lunchtime to assess the quality of food provided there to the students. It was a total surprise visit and his main intention was to analyze the nutritional value of the food being served to the students and to check if the food is as per the standards or not.
He sat with the kids and had lunch with them in the school. His gesture won him many hearts not only from the kids, but also from the social media users. The little ones felt very happy and surprised to have lunch with the district collector. The photos from the visit were shared online in his official Facebook page which garnered great attention from the social media users. IAS officer himself coming all the way to a government school just to check if the food is up to the standards or not is being mailed a lot by the people.
Collector visits school to check the food quality
The mid-day meal plan was introduced by the government of India where in the students will be served nutritional food every day in the afternoon as lunch. The IAS officer's dedication towards his work is being praised by the public. The photos and post regarding his visit to the school gained lot of love and is going viral on the social platform with 3, 500 shares.
When asked about the reason behind his surprise visit he said the motive was to assess the way of organisation and the nutritional value of the food being given at SDV School in which largest number of students are studying.
When asked the menu of what he ate in the school, he listed more (buttermilk), vellarika kootaan (cucumber sabzi), urulakizhangu mezhukuperati (potato fries) along with rice. He said that the meal was good and the quality was up to the mark too. . After completing his mid-day meal with the students he also visited the school’s library and computer lab.
According to the post, the headmaster and the PDA together brought the problem of space limitations in the school to the collector’s notice. Along with Suhas, former director of education at the Zila level K P Lathika also visited the school and explained the functioning.
