After long speculation, the Union Public Service Commission has declared the results of all the candidates who took part in the exam. Soon, the candidate's list that cracked UPSC is out. The media has started hunting the folks who topped UPSC to share their inspiring stories with the public. Here is an inspiring story of the first woman from Jammu and Kashmir who has cracked the challenging civil service examination.
The commission has finally declared the result on 5th April 2019. Dr. Rehana Basheer is the first woman from the district of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir. She acquired AIR 187 in the UPSC examination. She comes from Salva village located in Mendhar district. She didn't even expect that she would prefer civil services as her career option. However, she got the best rank in the examination.
After finishing her MBBS internship in Jammu, she went across some of the unpleasant situations in her life. With an intention to bring some change into their lives, she aimed to become a Government servant and serve the country. Rehana finished her graduation from Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences. At first, she took the exam in the year 2017 and later she cracked the exam in her 2nd attempt.
She said, 'It was not easy for me to take the stress, but my brother, who is already into administration, guided me. There were instances when I questioned myself about my decision, but friends and family members reminded me of my ultimate goal in life.'
She thought that it would be better to take part in Governance for serving people in the country. As a doctor, it is possible to treat only less number of patients. As a Government servant, she has the chance to clear a plethora of problems like health, drinking water, roads, food, and more. She finally said, 'I want to know my duties, fulfill my responsibilities, and act as per the demand of the situation.'
