The world is celebrating Yoga Day today. 21 June of every year marks the International Yoga Day ever since its inception in the year 2015. In the year 2014, our Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented the idea of Yoga Day during his speech in United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). He said, "Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in well being. Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day. "
Since then, the day is celebrated with enthusiasm in India and also in other parts of the World. Social media is flooded with pictures and videos of people doing Yoga.
The highlights of the day are that India has made 3 Guinness World records today. Have a look:
1- In Ahmedabad, 800 differently-abled persons from across the country attempt Guinness World Record for 'Largest Silent Yoga Class'
2- Patanjali’s Bhramchari Kuldeep, made a world record with 25k push ups in 10 hours.
3- In Rajasthan, Around 1.05 lakh (still counting) people perform Yoga together in Kota to create a Guinness World Record.
Well, that's a proud moment for all of us and it's time we take the inspiration to keep our body fit.
On the occasion, PM Modi tweeted, "I urge people around to world to embrace Yoga. I also request people to share the joys of Yoga with others by teaching Yoga particularly to today’s youth. This way we can create a healthier planet."
