The very important thing one needs in sports is discipline. Any kind of indiscipline behaviour can never be tolerated and similar happens with Phogat sister.
The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) said, "Geeta Phogat and sisters will have to justify their lack for any chance of a recovery."
Babita is claimed to be injured while Geeta-Babita both are Commonwealth Games medalists. Well, they are well known among sportsperson but became the household name after Aamir Khan's Dangal. However, their younger siblings Ritu and Sangeeta were also dismissed from the continuing national camp in Lucknow.
As per the WFI President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh: “The wrestlers selected for the national camp are expected to physically report to the camp within three days. If they have any problems or issues they should go there and report it to the coaches and find a solution,” WFI President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said.
He further explained, “But Geeta, Babita and others (in all 13) did not do that. They were incommunicado. This is serious indiscipline on their part and the WFI felt it’s time to pull the plug. So we have told them to sit at home and enjoy.”
Wrestling federation’s work against the Phogat sisters means they are banned from playing the Asian Games trials.
According to Singh, any player can be given a lifeline if they have some satisfactory explanation for their actions and added, “Let them first come to us and explain the reasons behind their actions. For now, they are out of the national camp."
However, Babita in return said, “I didn’t receive anything from the federation. Yes, I haven’t joined that camp yet as I am recovering from injuries to both my knees. I admit I haven’t informed the federation yet but I will send an application to them today itself.”
