Indian cricket fans divided into sections with Ravi Shastri appointment as head coach

The Indian cricket team is headed by the India's coach Ravi Shastri and as his term was about to end there was a appointment for the post of head coach. Well, now Ravi Shastri has been reappointed as the head coach of Indian cricket team. With this news breaking all over, the social media users are divided into two sections. There are lot of Indian Cricket team fans on Twitter who reacted to the decision of Cricket Advisory Committee to re-appoint Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the Indian team till November 24, 2021.

Between 2017 and 2019 he was the head coach of the Indian team and his performance has led him the fourth stint with Indian Cricket Team. Back then, Ravi Shastri had served briefly as the Cricket Manager (2007 tour of Bangladesh), Team Director (2014-2016) and head coach (2017-2019) of the Indian Cricket Team. As the team is playing against West Indies at present, Shastri connected with the committee over Skype.

Shastri left behind former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson, Australian Tom Moody and former India teammates Robin Singh and Lalchand Rajput and is appointed for the post. The Former West Indies and Afghanistan coach Phil Simmons pulled out of the race due to some personal reasons.

The Cricket Advisory Committee who took the decision comprises of Kapil Dev, Shantha Rangaswamy and Anshuman Gaekwad. The committee on Friday said that Ravi Shastri ticked all the boxes when it came to the parameters that the committee had kept for the candidates. The parameters were coaching philosophy, the experience of coaching, achievements in coaching, communication and the knowledge of modern coaching tools.

The Indian cricket team was also in favour of Ravi Shastri as he said that he shares a great camaraderie with former India captain and would want him to continue as the head coach of the Indian cricket team.  However, users on Twitter had mixed reactions on reappointment of Ravi Shastri as head coach. One of the user wrote “

This is not going to be great for India. So it's official now they aren't going to win any @ICC trophy for next 3-4 years.”
