Everything About India vs England Test 2018: Schedule, Venue, Date And Time

India is known as the hub of cricket. Even though it has originated in England, it is played more in India. A cricket match is like a festival in India. Thousands of people gather in the stadium to cheer for the team.

India takes on England in a five-match Test series with the first match starting on August 1 and the final game starting on September 7. It is the first time in four years that India is touring the country for a five-match Test series. The first match will be played at Edgbaston, Birmingham. This will also mark the 1000th Test match for England.

The first match is scheduled to be played between August 1-5 followed by the second Test that will be played at Lord’s. The third will be played at Trent Bridge in Nottingham and the fourth at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. The fifth and final Test will be played at The Oval in London.

Since then, MS Dhoni has retired from Test cricket and Virat Kohli has taken over as captain. Under him, India first rose to the no.1 spot in the ICC Test rankings in October 2016 after their 4-0 win over England at home. They have maintained their no.1 spot ever since.

Coming into the upcoming series, all eyes are on Kohli, who has evolved as one of the finest batsman in the world in the last four years.

"Look at his (Kohli's) record. I don't have to spell out what he has done in the last four years. When you perform in that fashion, you are mentally at a different level as well. You are waiting for whatever test comes your way," Shastri told Espncricinfo.

"Yes, he might have had an ordinary series when he came here four years ago. But four years down the line he is the best player in the world. And he would like to get out there and show the British public why he is the best player in the world."
