A very good initiative was taken by the Railway Police Force of Western Railway as they organized a special motorcycle rally in order to promote All India Toll-Free Security Helpline 182.
A motorcycle rally was done to create awareness on the social issue of women security. Through this rally, the RPF aimed to increase public awareness and instil a sense of security in commuters, especially women commuters.
This rally was organized on the occasion of Independence Day on 15th August 2018 at 9 a.m. in which 30 motorcycles were part of this rally which started from Churchgate station to Charni Road station and they were going to come back from the same route.
Shri A. K. Gupta is the General Manager of Western Railway and Mrs Archana Gupta is President of Western Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation jointly flagged off this unique rally which will be of help to many people all across India. Various Principal Heads of Departments and other senior officials were also present on this occasion.
According to a press release issued by Shri Ravinder Bhakar, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, Hon'ble MR has declared the year 2018-2019 as the year for “Security of Women & Children”. Western Railway has always pioneered when it comes to protection, service and facilities.
In continuation to this RPF/WR too are upgrading themselves and have procured 63 bikes for their unit. This has been done with an aim to increase mobility and improve response time. The All India Security Helpline 182 too is under the process of upgradation with the help of Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) which is an IT arm of Indian Railways.
The Railway Protection Force is a 65,000-strong security force entrusted with protecting passengers, passenger area and Railway property.
