Dr. Reddy's laboratory which is Indian partner of Russian vaccine Sputnik-V said that the imported doses will cost around Rs. 948 plus 5% GST. The total cost of one Sputnik Vaccine dose will be Rs.995.40.
"There is a possibility of a lower price point when local supply begins. The Company is working closely with six manufacturing partners in India to fulfill regulatory requirements to ensure smooth and timely supply," said Dr. Reddy's laboratories in a BSE filing.
The Sputnik V vaccines have arrived in India and is likely to be available in the markets by next week, said Dr. V K Paul, Member of Health of NITI Aayog on Thursday. The country is also planning to produce 15.6 crore doses of the Russian vaccine from July onwards. He also added that any vaccine that has been approved by FDA, WHO is now allowed to enter Indian markets. Import license will be granted within 1-2 days.
It has been predicted that over 2 billion doses of vaccines will likely be available in India between August to December 2021. The country is currently in the phase 3 of inoculation drive with over 3 percent of population fully vaccinated and around 9.2% have received at least one dose of a vaccine.
