The Inaugural Edition of ICC World Test Championship will be starting on August 1 and this tournament will decide the best test playing nation in the world. The ICC World Test Championship will consist of a number of tests that will be played between different teams over a period of two years.
There will be a final match that will decide the eventual winners of the Inaugural Edition of ICC World Test Championship. The International Cricket Council (ICC) proposed this idea in 2009 and was approved in 2010. They had also planned to host the tournament in 2013 but got postponed due to some other reasons.
The top ranked nine test teams in the world will participate in the championship and each team will play six series on home and away basis schedule in a two year cycle. Based on the points, the top two teams will play in the ICC World Test Championship final, which will be held in England in June 2021. The final match will decide the first champion of ICC World Test Championship.
As per the rules, each series of the championship will have 120 points and this is irrespective of the number of test matches played. In this way, a team can score maximum points of 720.
The inaugural test series of the tournament will start with the session between India and West Indies in the latter's home grounds. The test match between India and West Indies will begin from August 22 and it will be a 2 match test series.

• October 2019: South Africa (Home) - 3 Tests
• November 2019: Bangladesh (Home) - 2 Tests
• February-March 2020: New Zealand (Away) - 2 Tests
• November 2020-January 2021: Australia (Away) - 4 Tests
• January-March 2021: England (Home) - 5 Tests
