HBD Ayushmann Khuranna: Interesting facts about his life’s journey which will leave you surprised

The talented actor Ayushmann Khuranna is celebrating his 34th birthday today. He is not planning any kind of big birthday bash or party. Ayushmann was asked about his plans for the day, to which he replied, “Um.. The plan is just to go out for a quaint weekend with my family because there has been so much hullabuloo for the past three months. With the two films releasing and everything, so it’s going to be a quiet affair.”

Despite having reached a good position in the industry, he doesn't consider himself as a celebrity. He says that he is an 'Aam Aadmi' who doesn’t have the baggage of an industry guy. From being an RJ to being an A-lister in Bollywood, the actor has come a really long way.

Here are some interesting facts about the actor:

1- Not many of us know that Ayushmann Khurrana got noticed on TV for the first time at the age of 17. It was the reality show on Channel V 'PopStars' in 2002. He was one of the youngest contestants on the show. And from here it all began!

2- Roadies took place in 2004 whereby he turned out to be the winner in Roadies 2 at the age of 20. He then went on to complete his graduation and post-graduation in Journalism.

3- He got his first job as an RJ at BIG FM, Delhi, where he hosted the show Big Chai – Maan Na MaanMain Tera Ayushmann and also won the Young Achievers Award in 2007 for it.

4- He then stepped up the ladder to become Video Jockey on MTV with Pepsi MTV WassupThe Voice of Youngistaan, an informative show for the youth.

5- And gradually, he started hosting various Television Reality shows like Indian's Got Talent on Colors,  and Music Ka Maha Muqqabla on STAR Plus.

6- In 2013, he made his first Bollywood debut with the film 'Vicky Donor' opposite Yami Gautam. After that, he never looked back.

8- Ayushmann was lucky enough to get married to his childhood friend Tahira. They have 2 children together- a daughter and a son.

9- He has also written an autobiography titled 'Cracking the CODE: My journey To Bollywood'. The book is co-written by wife Tahira.

10- He has won many awards for acting, as well as for playback singing. He has given some beautiful songs like Paani da rang, Saadi Gali, Ik vaari, and many more.

He gets candid about his journey, and says, “It has been a great journey. It has been very fruitful. It was a long and very enjoyable journey. I was a part of a reality show for the first time when I was like 17-18 and Roadies happened when I was 19-20. And now I am turning 33. So, it’s a great journey and I am really happy that the journey is still on. I am really excited about my future projects as well. I am glad that I did not straight away start as an film actor because it gives me a really well-rounded perception. I have done theatre, radio, Television, then eventually films. And I have this paddle musical entity as well. So, I guess it’s good fun. Life is fun.”

He was always focused about his career. He says, “I always wanted to be a Bollywood actor. But I had to take this route of radio, theatre and then television because if you are not a star kid and you are not from the industry, nobody gives you that ‘launch’ in the beginning of your career. So, I think I have paved my own path to reach this place.”

Even after giving two back-to-back hits- Bareilly Ki Barfi and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, he still prefers to see Bollywood through the eyes of an outsider. He said, “Even if I am an insider now, I will always be having that outlook of an outsider because I just love doing that. I watch cinema as an outsider, as an audience, as ‘janta’. Whenever I watch a film, I don’t carry that baggage of an industry guy or an actor who will be too critical about the work. Because that is what happens when you become a part of the industry. Then, you nitpick certain things in every film. I don’t do that. I watch films as an “Aam Aadmi.”

The actor was last seen in 'Shubh Mangal Savadhan' which performed average on box-office. And will be next seen in 'Shoot the Piano Player'.

Happy Birthday, Ayushmann!
