Happy Janmashtami: Here’s How the festival is celebrated around the world

As described in India’s sacred writings, Lord Krishna is the avatar of Vishnu who was born to destroy the devils. This joyous day of his birth is celebrated as Janmashtami. He is being worshiped all around the world who is also known as Nandlal, Kanhaiya, Bal-Gopal and many names have been given to him for his elvish nature. Janmashtami is celebrated by almost 930 million people all over the world in which 2 million is the only count of US. Even many Foreigners live at the holy place of Krishna's birth Mathura and Vrindavan to worship him. From chanting Krishna's name to taking care of temples and other social work, you could witness foreigners doing it all.

The celebration of Janmashtami is one wonderful and joyous thing anyone can feel. The festive begins a day before the birth of Nandalal in which people do Kirtans, singing the Lord’s name along with other devotees, Chants his name within themselves and many other playful events also happens. The temples of Krishna and his statue is decorated with some clothes and enormous flower garlands and a Chappan Bhog is prepared in which you can found 56 variety of vegetables, sweets, and other delicious stuff.

And finally, at midnight the curtain is being pulled by the priests at the temple so that everyone can see the Devine Krishna and devotees play with colours and celebrate the festival.

Even a playful event is celebrated on this day known as Matki Fod or Dahi Handi in which many people came together to break a Matki that is hanged at a height where people make hurdle to reach the Matki and the topmost person breaks with the help of coconut.

People put Maakhan in the Matki which Kanhaiya likes the most.
