The coming Sunday marks as the Friendship day, the day to celebrate and cherish your friendship. We usually hear there is nothing like the permanent friendship between two politicians. Also, for their interest, politicians in India never step back even to embrace their arch rivals. For decades, the Indian politics has seen some long and loyal friendship between two political leaders. Some of such friends from politics sometimes belong to the same party while sometimes belong to the opponent party. So, this Friendship Day, let's witness some of the strong friendships of politics.
They both belong to the same party and are veterans of their party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Both have seen their political struggle together. In 1998, it was Advani who keeping aside his political ambition, paved the way for Vajpayee to become the Prime Minister.
Sisodia is considered the most trusted leader of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal within AAP. He always stands by Kejriwal. Also in 1999, Kejriwal and Sisodia together launched a movement named Parivartan to address citizens’ grievances related to Public Distribution System (PDS), public works, social welfare schemes, income tax and electricity. Their friendship is unbreakable even in such not-so-trusted field.
If today Modi Ji is the PM of India, the country knows who is the man behind him. PM trusts Amit Shah the most within his party. They came in contact through RSS and have been celebrating 20-year-old friendship. Two months after Modi became the PM of India, Shah was appointed the national president of the BJP.
Even seeing the defeat in Uttar Pradesh Assembly election, the Congress-Samajwadi Party leader Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav's friendship is staying strong. On different occasions, the leaders can be seen praising each other.
Their common enemy i.e., PM Narendra Modi made them friends. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Mamata Banerjee have made many public appearances together in the past and openly seeing supporting each other on issues like demonetisation.
The friendship of Rajiv Gandhi and Amitabh Bachchan was iconic at that time. They were a family friend like their parents. People still remember their bond.
Due to the same thought process, the political leaders of the different party are friends. People have witnessed their friendship on many occasions.
A friend in need is a friend indeed.
