Automatic Train Washers Installed On A Delhi Railway Station That Can Save 453 Lakh Lt Of Water Per Year

The water crisis is addressing us faster than ever. Many cities in the world are already out of the water and it is said that soon the world will be without usable water and petrol if we don't preserve it now.

India is growing faster than ever and is now among the topmost strongest countries in the world. India has a lot of water in its rivers but the country has decided not to take any risks so the government is coming up with new and innovative ways to save water. One such innovation was recently seen in form of automatic train washer at Hazrat Nizamuddin station. The system can save thousands of litres of water every day.

An automatic train washing system has been installed by Northern Railways at Hazrat Nizamuddin station in Delhi.

According to a tweet by a leading news channel, the washing system has a capacity of 250 coaches per day and takes 7-8 minutes to wash a 24-coach rake.

Earlier, the Indian Railway had decided to set up automatic coach washing plants at 10 major depots to save water required for cleaning trains. Reports inform that about 12,000 litres to 14,000 litres of water are used for cleaning one rake consisting of 22-24 coaches.

If automatic washing plants are installed at major stations, it would be eco-friendly and uses a minimum quantity of water, soap and disinfectants. Further, water used for washing can be treated at the ETP plant and recycled.

According to a report by a leading news agency, the automatic plant will require only 6000 litres to clean a rake out of which 4000 litres will be recycled water. As per the calculation, one depot will save 1,24,000 litres of water per day and 453 lakh litres per year once the plant is operational.

This is surely a great step by the government towards water management.
