Goa’s Tourism Minister Manohar Azgaonkar has a good news for all the people out there. He has announced that the Goa Tourism Development Corporation’s (GTDC) taxi-app, called Goamiles will be launched next month.
The localities and the tourists searching for transport will get many benefits from this. Around 2,800 licensed taxi drivers have already expressed interest towards the app, which is in its final stages of testing.
The GTDC plans to carry out a public information campaign, to create awareness about the app. Nilesh Cabral, the chairman of GTDC is hoping to reach out to a million people in Goa, for daily commutes and tourism. The COM of Goa is optimistic and said the service will bring a change in the transportation system for cab drivers, tourists and locals in Goa. He hopes that taxi drivers across the state sign up on the platform.
Not just this, but the drivers will be given all the training which will include basic etiquette, knowledge of tourist places, basic first aid and knowledge of Goan cultures and traditions. Drivers and their family members will also benefit from this as they may be provided with additional facilities like health insurance and scholarship schemes.
